A Versatile and Flexible 3D Fabric Pre-forming Technology and Service

Fureho is pioneering near-net shape 3D preforms, Noobed Fabrics, with its proprietary Noobing Technology. We specialise in designing, developing and manufacturing near-net shape 3D pre-forms - from usual objects (e.g. blocks, bars, tiles, rings, discs, cylinders etc.) to special objects (e.g. lugs, brackets, drone frames, propeller blades, engine vanes, and more).

 
 

Fureho is incubating at the European Space Agency's Business Incubation Centre in Sweden.

 

Noobed Fabrics are non-crimp 3D fabrics tailored for performance and to near-net shape. Fibres are incorporated in-plane (X, Y, +/- θ) and out-of- plane (Z) thickness directions, thus creating 3D reinforcement structures for composite materials. The out-of-plane Z fibres provide increased inter-laminar shear strength and resistance to delamination.

Noobed Fabrics are producible using PAN carbon, Pitch carbon, ceramic, Silicon Carbide (SiC), aramid, glass, bio fibres etc. The fibres can be freely combined in any direction to create unique reinforcement solutions. Fibres are well aligned in all directions without crimping to maximise material properties.

Noobed Fabrics are produced using Fureho's proprietary and flexible Noobing Technology which enables tailoring architectural and near-net shaping features of the reinforcement material to meet the specific performance and application requirements.

Near net-shape Noobed 3D fabric pre-forms are directly produced to the required geometry. Fureho’s Noobing Technology can process a variety of fibre types such as carbon PAN and Pitch, Silicon Carbide (SiC), ceramic, aramid, glass etc.

Based on customer inputs, unique pre-forms are directly produced.

Features

Fully integrated, dry, individual items (with no chemical binder). Engineered to conform and integrate with surrounding reinforcement materials. Easy to handle without risk of disintegration.

Application Examples

Functional gussets, load-carrying fillers, joints etc. for integrating with surrounding fabrics or pre-pregs; parts for a variety of constructions.

Benefits

Compatible configuration with surrounding fabrics/pre-pregs, relatively quicker construction of final part, bypasses traditional cutting-plying to produce small and complex items - saves time and costs.

Directly and easily obtain small-complex composite items that can be loaded in XYZ directions. A lightweight alternative for certain metal parts.

Features

Delamination resistant. Easily machinable with standard tools. Good dimensional tolerances and finish. Near zero CTE and corrosion resistant.

As replacement for certain metallic parts like inserts / hard-points, brackets, bearing-housings, connectors etc.

Uniquely thermally conductive composite material solutions can be achieved through the careful selection and placement of pitch carbon fibers in the reinforcing Noobed 3D Fabric.

Features

Different levels of heat conductance in different directions using suitable pitch carbon fibres (which range in thermal conductivity from 140 W/mK to 800 W/mK). Linear and guided heat conductance options. High fibre stiffness imparts increased vibration damping
